Farming/Farming Character Questions
What are the best characters for farming rubies/sapphires/shards/ectos (It can be 2 - 3 characters if it has to be).
And where do I farm rubies/sapphires?
Also, can someone list the favourite (as in, most profitable) farming builds and where they farm.
Thanks,
~Punk

Ectos - Get a Monk or Necro. The MOST effective way right now (easiest to get into groups, always forming) is the 2 Man 55 Monk/Spirit Bond Monk and SS/SV Necro combo. If you cant make one of them, you can go Famine Ranger and hook up with a spirit bond monk, but it might take longer to find a partner, theres also a SpiritBond+Smiter two monk farming group, but I dont see a whole lot of them forming.
Shards - Warriors solo the Spider Cave. I've heard of Rangers soloing the Forest area but I dont know how easy or common it is. MOstly though you'll get into little half teams that have the basics: Tanks, Nukers, Monks.
Gems - There is no SPECIFIC place that drops these like with ectos or shards, But in my time in the UW on Ecto runs, I have seen a number of them drop - So I'd say just do Ecto runs and hope for some of these on the side.

Can you toss me a link for an SS/SV Necro guide?
Thanks.

No linkage, but I can easily tell you, and I'm sure its in the list of builds at the top.
Att's:
16 Curses
9 Illusion
Anything Soul Reaping
A few Blood
Bring:
Arcane Echo
Spiteful Spirit
Ancestor's Visage
Sympathic Visage (sp?)
Rez Sig
Reckless Haste
Awaken the Blood
[free slot] <-can bring just about anything. If the monk isnt great bring Blood Ritual for him and put enough in blood for 10-11 secs on it.
The monk will enchant up at the start (give him a ritual to be nice if you have it). Sit there and he'll run in and aggro stuff. Once he aggros stuff put arcane echo up and Spiteful Spirit one of the things, and use the echo'ed spiteful spirit on ANOTHER one of them, then use reckless haste on any of them. Then Wait for them to die and collect your loot. If one of them survives for some strange reason past the others, slap a SS on him to get him down.
The monk will tell you when to take the quest in front of you from the ghost *DONT TAKE IT UNTIL HE SAYS TOO*. This will spawn some Squid-looking monsters. Arcane Echo/Spiteful them like the others, but this time I like to throw one of the visages on him 0 because tyhese monsters you CANNOT let gain adrenaline or they'll Skull Crack him.
Just follow the monk around until you are at monsters called "Smite Crawlers". These are alittle different. First, after he aggros them, put a Visage on him FIRST. Wait a moment, THEN arcane echo/spiteful them. Keeping Visage up as the other runs out (You are at 9 so they each last 15 on 30 recharge, so you can keep the chain going forever). You have to visage these first to take their energy or they'll Smite Hex your spiteful.
There you go. The monk will teach you the aggro patterns and such.

The vengeful ritualist (rit/mes) build is FAR superior to dual monk/ss. It may not be able to kill aatxes, but that only speeds up the process imho. Takes 20 minutes for me to finish killing all smites and get back to TOA. The rit can also be used for soloing fow, but farming shards in fow is a lot slower and less profitable than uw ecto. Plus it can be used to farm a LOT of other places... troll caves, desert, etc. It's the most versatile farming build there is.
you can find the build on the forums here.
